Red Deer

The Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) is one of the largest and most iconic deer species, known for its majestic antlers and elegant appearance. Native to Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa, red deer inhabit forests, grasslands, and mountainous regions.

Male red deer, known as stags, are famous for their impressive antlers, which they shed and regrow each year. During the rutting season, stags engage in dramatic displays and battles for dominance. These deer play a significant role in ecosystems, helping to shape vegetation and supporting predator populations. However, habitat loss and hunting have made conservation efforts vital in many regions.
